Kirkham Grammar School is attractively situated in more than 30 acres of its own grounds in a semi-rural area midway between Preston and Blackpool. Its unique ethos exudes warmth, friendship and a sense of 'one family'. Generations of families continue to send their children to this traditional, highly esteemed grammar school where academic standards are high and the breadth of educational experience is impressive. Much stress is laid on the Christian ethos of the School, respect for others, courteous behaviour and manners, good order and discipline. The School takes great pains to establish close personal relationships with each pupil, through a tutorial system which affords a pupil/tutor ratio of 14:1.
Kirkham Grammar School boasts some excellent facilities, which include the recent additions of a large, multi-purpose hall, a science suite with five large well equipped laboratories and a superb floodlit all-weather sports area, opened in September 1991 by the Minister for Sport. Another very important recent development is Kirkham Grammar Junior School, which was opened in September 1991 and caters for 200 pupils in brand new purpose built accommodation on its own site across the road from the Senior School.
Kirkham Grammar School benefits from a special and close relationship with British Aerospace Plc, which has led to its designation as a Centre of Excellence for the development of Technology. A new Technology Suite, fully furnished with industry-standard equipment, will be built in 1997 to add to the impressive new Sixth Form Centre opened in September 1995.
A wide range of extra curricular activities is offered by a School renowned for its sporting prowess, but with strength across the board in music, art, drama, a strong and popular Combined Cadet Force and a flourishing House System. As well as excellent academic results and a good Oxbridge entry record, Kirkham Grammar School prides itself on turning out rounded, well balanced and confident young people, the vast majority of whom continue their education at University.
Kirkham Grammar School is one of the last remaining schools in the North West to provide continuity of independent day school education from the age of 4 to 19 years, with the added facility of a thriving boarding house, at a reasonable cost to parents.
